If you could get a sequel for any book, what would it be?
Without a doubt it would be Witch in the House by Jenna McKnight. It's about a witch called Jade who casts a spell to bring herself happiness and one to bring happiness to a jilted groom, and accidentally merges the spells. I first read this a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it.
As soon as I was done I popped online and looked around for information on a sequel, especially as it was fairly obvious Jade's two friends were supposed to have their own stories. I did find mention of a sequel in several places, but when I tried to find a release date a few months later everything had disappeared. After multiple unanswered emails to both the author and the publishing house, I gave up.
Recently the author has made it public knowledge that she has Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and won't be writing anymore, which is a real shame as I was looking forward to reading more from her and this book is now less fun as it is clearly the first of a trilogy that is not going to be finished.

I don't think i've read that one. Strange what the author has said. It was illness that turned me to writing.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Booking Through Thursday post.
ReplyDeleteWeird that a seasonal issue has stoped ALL writings :( SADD is a real problem but to stop at the first of 3 ... I couldn't do it...
ReplyDeleteHere's my BTT - House Millar series
Aine
I have not heard of this novel. Its sad to know the author can not finish not like she made a decision not to finish, She can not due to her diagnose.

ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this one either. Sorry about the author's illness, since so many of us suffer from SAD. I hope she can find some comfort somehow or another.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a good book...thats sad it won't continue :(
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this one either, so sorry about the author.

Hmm, I've never heard of this one but I am intrigued... I totally empathize with your frustration over the lack of a planned sequel! I was perfectly happy with a book I read last month being a standalone until I read that the author had considered it as part of a trilogy. :( Sometimes publishers suck.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments guys :) Hopefully at some point the author will be able to finish the trilogy, but if not this is a fun read.
ReplyDeleteInteresting book :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
