Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by
the Broke and the Bookish where a new top ten list is posted each week. This week is:
Top Ten Authors I'd Love To Have At My Thanksgiving Feast. I don't celebrate Thanksgiving as I'm English, but I love the idea behind the holiday...and the sound of the food! Also last Thanksgiving saw the birth of my niece so I'm definitely feeling thankful.
1.
Agatha Christie - she's an incredibly prolific writer who basically invented an entire genre. Plus I want to know who she thought was best at solving mysteries - Poirot or Marple?
2.
Terry Pratchett - I'm totally hooked on the Discworld books. The whole world is incredibly realistic and detailed and the characters are amazing. Also I like his hat.
3.
Amelia Atwater-Rhodes - who was amazingly published at 13! I'd love to know how she felt that affected her, and where her Den of Shadows series is going.
4.
Maggie Stiefvater - I met her a couple of weeks ago at a signing and she's brilliant. What other dinner guest could I sit and talk about homicidal water horses with?
5.
Sherrilyn Kenyon - I love her Dark-Hunter series and the Chronicles of Nick and I've got soooooo many questions. Also, there's a chance I could bribe her to sign all of them :)
6.
Joanne Fluke - there are two reasons for this pick. First of all, I want her Thanksgiving cookie recipes (you know she has them), and secondly I want to tell her to make Hannah pick. I don't care if it's Norman or Mike anymore, just that she picks one!
7.
Kerrelyn Sparks - I love her books and want to know how she comes up with this stuff. Chocoblood? Bliskey? Bleer? She's hilarious!
8.
Jim Butcher - Dresden rules! It's rare that my Mum and I agree on a series, but this is one of those incredible series you have to love. I even liked the TV show, although not as much as the books mostly because a talking skull is cooler than a ghost.
9.
Nalini Singh - I love the Psy-Changeling series and I'd like to know more about how she planned it out as well as more about the aspects of their society we haven't seen much of yet. Lots and lots of questions basically.
10.
Kelley Armstrong - was who got me hooked on urban fantasy. Now the end of the Otherworld series is in sight (13 is out next summer) I want to know what's up next.
So Happy Thanksgiving everyone, whether you celebrate or not, I hope you have an awesome day :)
