Booking Through Thursday (11)

Of the books you own, what’s the biggest category/genre?
Is this also the category that you actually read the most?

Of my books, the largest category is probably paranormal romance. I have a wide selection of genres, but aside from paranormal romance the biggest groups are probably urban fantasy, young adult and cozy mysteries. Most of my books are in boxes due to lack of space and those tend to be sorted by genre, mostly to prevent me having to go through 20+ boxes to find a single book.

Right now, I'm not sure if I'd class paranormal romance as the category I'm reading the most of. I seem to be reading a lot of young adult books at the moment. I've always read in batches - I'll go through a young adult stage, then switch to something more adult like paranormal romance, then something more action based like urban fantasy, then something less graphic like cozy mysteries. That said, I've read more of the paranormal romances I own than other genres.

  1. You must have tons of books, then! I know the feeling, there's literally no more space left on my bookshelf :(

  3. That's like me! I like to mix up my YA and adult reading. I always try for YA, then adult...YA is a good genre, but sometimes you just need a great paranormal-romance, am I right?!

    Great post!

  7. Thanks for all the comments guys :)

@Vicky - they're just old amazon boxes so most aren't too big lol

@Sierra - I totally agree! Sometimes you really need grown ups doing grown up things to read about lol :)

@Dawn Treader - Paranormal romance is like Twilight in the romance+vampires way, but I'm talking about adult books as opposed to YA.

  8. I looked over my bookshelves and noticed I had more cozy mysteries than any other genre.

I am currently listening to "16 Lighthouse Road." I wanted to do some crocheting and thought if I listen to the book than I can multi-task, and get this baby afghan finished.

  9. Paranormal romance, also the far rarer sci-fi, dystopian, romances (couple out in in 2012) Hmm, that's quite a mouthful. I guess the genre is simply YA sci-fi. Also enjoy humour in edgy YA books, so Cassandra Clare, Lili St Crow and Philip Reeves are among my favourite authors.

  11. I'm not a fan of paranormal romance (or romance in general) but mystery books I love.

  12. I tend to go through phases too. At the moment I seem to be going through young adult books - enjoying dystopian ones a lot, or fantasy ones.

  13. Hello! Thanks for the visit to my blog!

Hmm...I am totally 'not' into YA or Paranormal Romances but at least they get people reading. That counts as something.
